The Kingston Public Library is seeking a friendly, energetic, part-time circulation assistant to work at the front desk throughout the week along with weekends as needed. Job applications will be available at the front desk. The minimum age to apply is 18.
Library Assistant Job Description
Specific Responsibilities of the Job:
* Dependability and Flexibility is a MUST.
* Be able to assist proctoring the TWRA Boat Certification Exam
* Issue and renew library cards
* Processes reserves and performs telephone notifications
* Shelve materials when returned
* Collect fines/charges
* Assist patrons in use of public computers
* Answer reference questions
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Knowledge of personal computers and related hardware, electronic mail, internet, and office software
* Ability to work with patrons and staff members in a friendly and tactful manner
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
* Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with other employees and the public
* Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork
Education and Experience:
* Degree or equivalent experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Years of experience: At least 1 year of customer service experience with cash handling required
Physical Demands:
* The employee is required to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl when shelving books
* Ability to lift at least 25 pounds (when needed)
